About the
Middletown PAL

The Police Activity League of Middletown, Inc. (Middletown PAL) is a community-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth through educational, athletic, and recreational programs. Operated in partnership with the Middletown Police Department, Middletown PAL fosters positive relationships between young people and law enforcement, aiming to build a safer and more inclusive community.

Middletown PAL serves children and teens aged 4 to 18, providing constructive alternatives to violence, gang involvement, truancy, and substance abuse. Through initiatives like Friday Night Hoops, boxing, fitness training, arts and crafts, and mentoring, the organization instills values such as integrity, respect, discipline, self-esteem, leadership, and teamwork. These programs are designed to help youth develop life skills that enhance self-worth and pave the way for future success.

The organization’s motto, “Today’s Youth for Tomorrow’s Future,” reflects its commitment to guiding young individuals toward becoming responsible and caring citizens. Middletown PAL emphasizes diversity, equality, and inclusion, striving to ensure that all young people—regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, income, gender, sexual orientation, or disability—have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

In 2023, Middletown PAL expanded its reach by opening a new center at 646-54 Main Street in the city’s North End, a densely populated area where many children reside. This facility offers a range of programs, including tutoring, athletic activities, and other positive pursuits, aiming to keep children engaged and out of trouble while introducing them to positive role models in law enforcement.

Middletown PAL’s success is bolstered by partnerships with local organizations such as Mercy High School, which collaborates on mentorship programs like “PAWS for PAL,” offering activities like soccer, flag football, cheerleading, and social events.  The organization also relies on support from sponsors and donors to maintain the quality and reach of its programs.

By providing a safe and supportive environment, Middletown PAL plays a vital role in shaping the lives of young people in the community, helping them build confidence, develop essential life skills, and establish positive relationships with law enforcement officers.
